BackPack Safety

OK. Maybe you have more important things to worry about. It is not like carrying a heavy backpack with a lot of school books can cause serious illnesses.

Carrying a heavy backpack can be a source of 'chronic, low-level trauma,'and can cause chronic shoulder, neck and back pain in your children.
Do you have concerns that carrying heavy backpack to school is causing health problems for your kids?

Check out the tips on BackPack Safety.

Lisa

BACKPACK SAFETY

-- Choose a backpack with wide, padded shoulder straps and a padded back.
-- Pack light. Organize the backpack to use all of its compartments. Pack heavier items closest to the center of the back. The backpack should never weigh more than 10 to 20 percent of your child's body weight.
-- Always use both shoulder straps. Slinging a backpack over one shoulder can strain muscles.
-- Consider a rolling backpack. This type of backpack may be a good choice for students who must tote a heavy load. Remember that rolling backpacks still must be carried up stairs, and they may be difficult to roll in snow.

Back to School - Making the First Day Easier

MAKING THE FIRST DAY EASIER

Remind your child that she is not the only student who is a bit uneasy about the first day of school. Teachers know that students are anxious and will make an extra effort to make sure everyone feels as comfortable as possible.

Point out the positive aspects of starting school: It will be fun. She'll see old friends and meet new ones. Refresh her positive memories about previous years, when she may have returned home after the first day with high spirits because she had a good time.

Find another child in the neighborhood with whom your youngster can walk to school or ride with on the bus.

If you feel it is appropriate, drive your child (or walk with her) to school and pick her up on the first day.

Renal Failure Reversed?

I don't understand every scientific detail of how this works - the scientists say it is repairing DNA. Miracles are happening.

Brandy used to work for us at the Family Chiropractic & Nutrition Center and she was a home health care supervisor. This is an unbelievable testimony!
Karen Sandifer

Dear Karen,

Tony has been taking the VIVIX since I started employment with you all February 2009 and guess what??? We went to see the kidney doctor to find out about testing me so that I could give him a kidney and part of my liver because he was high stage 4 renal failure with polysistic kidneys … at stage 5 you have to be on dialysis to live. So we wanted to do a transplant before he had to start. When they did his blood work they told us that he is stage 2 to low 3, and proceeded to take him off the renal diets, saying he does not need any blood pressure medication and to enjoy life because he had hopefully many years before he has to think about dialysis!

You don't get better with this disease …. And according to the specialists that we consulted, they all said, “there is no cure”. Tony could not even get on the transplant list because he had a heart attack in the past.

The doctor wanted to know what was going on and even ran another blood test to make sure that the lab hadn’t screwed up. I couldn't think because I was in such shock. Here we were going there sad, and expecting the worst, with not much hope after seeing two kidney specialists that said the same thing. Then GOD and VIVIX saved our lives. All we could do was cry and laugh about what kind of meal he wanted for dinner because he was no longer limited to 4oz of protein a day which isn't much being he is 6'4 and 240lbs. Anyway his sister is in the same condition with football size cysts on her kidneys and we are sending her a shipment of VIVIX next week. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! What else do you say to someone who gave my husband and my family our lives back? I will tell anyone I can about VIVIX in the future and God Bless all of you, I know he has blessed us.

Advice

Spent the day out on the motorcyle with my husband yesterday. We stopped and meandered through one of those great New England towns with all the little shops. I couldn't resist sharing one of the t-shirts.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Couple Time??

One of the things we have done to maintain our marriage is to take some time to be a couple again. That’s difficult when you are mom & dad, working, and living with the everyday stresses of life. I believe it is important to capture that time of just the two of you, whether it’s to get out to dinner or get away for a night or two.

One of our favorite get-a-ways through the years has been the couples only resort, Cove Haven, in the Poconos. It is a great to reconnect and has 2 sister resorts, also in the Poconos. Check it out. http://www.caesarspoconoresorts.com/resorts/covehaven.aspx

Stressed Anyone????

What a stressful morning trying to book a last minute flight home for my son? The USMC set the parameters and of course we wanted to get the best price. Kayak.com was great for getting all the information together with combining different airports for arrival and departure to get the best option within the parameters. After spending a half hour on the phone trying to determine if the airline would give him a military discount (they would not), the price of the flight went up! Alas, he is booked and we are looking forward to having him home.

ADHD Alternative

When my son was 7, he was diagnosed as ADHD. I couldn’t reconcile giving a child a narcotic to sit still in school – so I did a lot of research into alternatives. We made changes in our family diet like removing artificial sweetners, hydrogenated oils & high fructose corn syrup – it took a lot of label reading! He loved water and swim lessons – so we joined the swim team. I thought it would make it more difficult to manage his time, however – it helped him to focus and he was successful. We eliminated toxic chemicals from our home. We also supplemented with the highest quality & safest nutritional supplements available. Now they have even made them fun!

And that 7 year old boy was never prescribed narcotics and has become a 20 year old man and a U. S. Marine.
